Dynamic Transaction Fee Test on Mainnet

Scheduled Maintenance Report for Flow

Completed

Testing of dynamic transaction fees on mainnet was successfully completed. The surge factor is now back to 1.0 as it was before the start of test.

During the test, the surge factor was raised to 1.01 and the following checks were performed:

Cadence:
1. Transaction fees went up exactly by 1%.
2. Flow Wallet successfully submitted transactions with the updated fees.

EVM:
1. Transaction fee estimates were reported accurately with the 1% increase:
- Forge (used for a contract upgrade transaction)
- Metamask (used for a token transfer)
2. Transactions were charged correctly in both cases, reflecting the surge factor adjustments.

Additional Validation:
Flowscan also reported the surge factor correctly throughout the test.

Scheduled

We will be conducting a dynamic transaction fee test on Flow Mainnet to validate that transaction fees adjust as expected during periods of simulated network overload.

What to Expect
- The surge factor will be raised from 1.0 to 1.01 (a 1% increase to transaction fees) by the service committee.

- dApps and wallets are expected to automatically adjust by paying the correct transaction fees.

- Our team will be monitoring transaction error rates and system behavior throughout the test.

> If you notice your dApps or wallets being depleted faster during the test, please fund them with additional FLOW.
